1.May I ask if 780 means as 780 ft altitude at 1013 mb or 29.21 and maximum altitude of this altimeter is 10,000 ft?
2.Is it possible to reset this altimeter to 500 ft at the same 1013mb if the pilot change location from take off
to touch down from H or cold to L or warm airport?.

    • The altimeter is showing 780 feet pressure altitude (altimeter is set to “standard” of 29.92″ and 1013mb). If the local airport altimeter setting happens to also be 29.92, than 780 feet represents feet above mean sea level.

This altimeter is found on a Boeing 767. Maximum display altitude is probably 50,000 feet.

Before takeoff and landing, the pilot will adjust the Kollsman window (barometric pressure windows) to the local altimeter setting. This will correct the altimeter for high/low pressure weather. Temperature has a small effect on altimeters. We are only concerned with altitude corrections when temperatures are very cold (aircraft true altitude is lower than what the altimeter reads).
