Guy rides on TOP of a DC-8… Whadayacrazy?

Source: frame capture from AvWeb’s video

Back in 1976 some guys cooked up a publicity stunt involving a guy dressed up as the Amazing Human Fly standing on top of an airplane. Sure, wing walkers have been around since the days of the bi-plane, but these guys did it with a 4-engine DC-8 jet airliner. got the story behind the stunt and produced this video with interviews and old footage.

If you’re interested in learning more about the Douglas DC-8, check out  As fun as it looks, I think I’ll stay in the cockpit. 🙂

AeroSavvy is written by Ken Hoke. Since 1984, Ken has loitered the skies in many vehicles, most notably the classic Douglas DC-8. He currently frustrates air traffic controllers in the US, Asia, and Europe as a Boeing 767 captain for a package express airline.

Another great opportunity to cite George Carlin… “I’m getting IN the plane! Let Evel Knievel get ON the plane”

Don't just sit there... Say something!
